MEET THE TEAMS

While Event Horizon has been participating in FTC for 5 years, this is their second year with TECH Robotics. They are our only Hammond-based team, and team members come from three different parishes to attend meetings. They strive to grow not only in their technical skills, but also in their community outreach. Last season, they were the Louisiana Inspire Award winners, a recognition that is given to the team that best embodies the FIRST Tech Challenge program. They also won the Inspire Award at their first qualifier this season and are looking forward to competing at the Louisiana State Championship in March.

Space Ninjas are our 2nd-year FLL Challenge team, but they’re no rookies to FIRST. Many of the team members participated on our former FLL Jr. Team, Flying Ninjas. They excel at teamwork and inclusion, always making sure everyone’s voices are heard. In their first year, they were recognized with a Rising All-Star award, which is given to a team that judges expect to see great things from in the future. This season, they were Louisiana’s Global Innovation nominee and runner-up for the Champion’s Award. They will advance to the Arkansas Razorback Invitational in May and continue to develop their innovation project solution – a lockbox that helps protect packages from theft and damage from animals and bad weather.

Our newest team, Cobots, are our 1st-year FLL Explore team. This season, they have enjoyed coming up with innovative ideas for improving problems related to the transportation of cargo and incorporating a variety of sensors in their model. They are looking forward to showcasing all of their hard work at the Louisiana FLL Explore Expo in March.
